Processing

Processing steps of my painted milk cans, watering cans and letterboxes

Welcome to a look behind the scenes of my painted milk cans. Here I will explain the detailed steps that each can goes through to become a unique work of art. There are many painted milk cans on the internet, but often they are not protected against the weather, frost, fading and ageing due to the lack of layers of paint and varnish – with the result that they become scratched more quickly and the colour and motif begin to crumble. This cannot happen with my milk cans and you will enjoy them for a long time – I give you a five-year weathering guarantee. Please also follow my care instructions for painted cans. Incidentally, my painted watering cans and painted letterboxes also undergo similar processing steps.

  1. thorough cleaning and smoothing of dents:
Every jug begins its transformation with a thorough cleaning. Any dents are smoothed out to ensure a smooth surface.
  1. sanding and removing small imperfections:
In this step, I sand the can to remove small imperfections as well as old paint and varnish. This ensures a flawless base.
  1. priming the can with adhesive primer:
I then prime the can with primer. This layer ensures that the subsequent colours and paints adhere optimally.
  1. application of the desired base colour:
Once the primer has dried, I apply the base colour of my choice. This forms the background for the later motif.
  1. whiten the surfaces to be painted with acrylic paint:
As soon as the base colour has hardened, the surfaces to be painted are primed white with acrylic paint. This ensures optimum colour brilliance.
  1. pre-drawing the desired motif:
Now I start by sketching the desired motif. This forms the basis for the subsequent design.
  1. design of the picture:
In this step, I design the picture with great attention to detail and artistic freedom. Each motif is individual and unique.
  1. application of the colourless car paint:
After the motif has hardened, I apply a layer of colourless car paint with a compressor. This protects the can and makes it weatherproof.
